EDUCATION AND CAREER
DEVELOPMENT
Power Hour : Homework help and tutoring for any of our members.
After School Pick Up : We pick up students after school at
approximately 15 elementary schools and transport them back to the
clubs.
Career Explorers Club : Members tour different businesses to
learn about different career opportunities and what is required for
them.
Career Launch : The JOB READY Program was designed to teach our
members 16 to 18 years old the things they need to know to get ready for
the work force.
Ultimate Journey : Focuses on the environment, animals, and
pollution. Members go on field trips to emphasize the messages taught.
CHARACTER AND
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Keystone Clubs :
Citizenship and leadership program for teenagers 14 to 17 years old to
promote community service.
Torch Clubs : Same as Keystone Clubs but for ages 10 to 13.
Youth of the year : The most prestigious award a member can receive.
Also receives a $500.00 scholarship to the college of their choice.
Jr. Youth of the year : For members 12 and under.
HEALTH AND LIFE SKILLS
Smart Moves : Prevention program for drugs, alcohol, and teen
pregnancy. Age appropriate curriculum focuses on peer pressure and
choices.
Cooking Class : To teach members about nutrition and safety.
Kids In Control : A safety program for members ages 12 & under.
Teaches everything from bicycle safety to being aware of their
surroundings and strangers.
Netsmartz : This is an internet safety program that teaches
children about the dangers and pitfalls of the Internet.
Cavity Free Zone : A program developed by Crest and Boys and
Girls Clubs to teach our members about proper dental hygiene for life.
THE ARTS
Kids In Action : This
program offers members a chance to expand their horizons through music,
dance, photography and fine arts. Members will participate in the
national photography and fine arts competitions with Boys and Girls
Clubs of America.
Arts And Crafts Classes : These regular classes give our members a
chance to showcase their talents.
SPORTS, FITNESS &
RECREATION
Organized Basketball :
Over 1,600 boys and girls play in our leagues.
Shotokan Karate : Teaches children the discipline it takes to
perform Karate.
Summer Day Camp : We open at 7:30 A.M. till 6:00 P.M. for working
parents. Children go swimming and on field trips.
Fitness Authority : Physical fitness program where members
compete nation wide.
Lubbock Warriors Boxing Club : Long time program located at the
Optimist Branch.
